Location: Sheffield

Salary: Negotiable dependant on level experience plus;

Summary

A Principal Contractor, operating throughout England and Wales, delivering multi-disciplinary buildings and civil engineering projects for Network Rail are excited to offer an opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.

You'll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and insights from senior leadership, including the Commercial Director.

You'll also have the chance to work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, providing direct support.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Price variations / technical queries to contracted works
  • Liaise with delivery team regarding works executed
  • Analyse cost reports
  • Assist in producing final accounts
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with Client
  • Compile cost-value reconciliations
  • Submit periodic valuations
  • Assessing sub-contractors claims
  • Contribute to monthly commercial meetings
  • Submit periodic applications for payment
  • Assist with and help produce commercial reports for the Board of Directors
  • Assist with all change control processes
  • Work with supply chain for procurement of suppliers and S/C
  • Assist with tenders
  • Comply with and promote the company safety policy
  • Any other duties may reasonably be required

Person Specification

Essential:

  • HND/HNC
  • Strong IT Skills, especially with Microsoft packages and easily able to learn to use new software
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced environment, with a high-volume workload
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong Numeracy skills
  • Ability to work methodically, using own initiative and unsupervised

Desirable:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
  • Experience in similar role, within a contracting environment
