Navartis are looking to recruit a Piling Designer based in Newark for one of the leading contractors in their UK market.
This role while being a designer, opens up an interesting path into estimating – with the position reporting into the estimating manager, it is ideal for someone looking to expand their skills while retaining core design skills.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Preparation of preliminary tender designs, review of ground investigations as well as estimates for retaining walls – while still adhering to procedural requirements
- Calculation of costings such as overhead and margins, interacting with clients to provide suitable advice from a design perspective while driving best outcomes of the company
- Perform tender reviews, cost recalculation and review where required – ensuring client satisfaction
- Adopt a flexible approach to manage workloads and prioritise various projects at different stages
The Ideal candidate:
- Background experience in a design area such as geo-technical or similar field – be this from a consultancy or contractor
- Demonstratable people skills – ability to communicate with a variety of different clients, ability to understand their needs and ensure full understanding of projects. Previous experience in estimating is beneficial but not essential
- Degree qualification in a relevant field such as geology, geotechnics or civil engineering
- Flexible approach to work – in terms of both projects as well as location. Travel to various areas will be a part of the role
- An individual looking to progress their career forward and develop upon skills over time with internal support
