Job Title: Design Manager

About the Role:
We are working on behalf of a main contractor looking to recruit an experienced Design Manager for a pivotal role based in the East Midlands. This position offers the opportunity to lead and coordinate the design process across a variety of projects, with a particular focus on care homes, later living developments, and other residential and commercial builds.
As Design Manager, you will ensure that designs align with client expectations, regulatory requirements, and construction deliverables, playing a key role in the success of projects from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design process across multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery of quality design solutions.
- Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, and construction teams to produce innovative and practical designs.
- Ensure all designs comply with UK building regulations and meet project specifications.
- Coordinate and manage design documentation, reviews, and approvals.
- Address design issues proactively, mitigating risks to project timelines and budgets.
- Maintain excellent communication with clients and stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction throughout the design lifecycle.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience: Proven track record as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment. Experience in care homes, later living, or residential/commercial projects is highly desirable.
- Qualifications: Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit; strong understanding of UK building regulations.
- Skills: Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
