Entry Level Building Surveyor
I am currently working with a leading consultancy seeking an Entry Level Building Surveyor to join their Examination Framework and Infrastructure Engineering team. The responsibilities of the role include successfully delivering condition surveys and ither professional property inspections, and examinations across various routes, and at various train stations, depots, lineside buildings for Network Rail.
The key responsibilities for this Entry Level Building Surveyor role are:
- Conduct visual surveys and inspections on a variety of building and structure types under the guidance of senior team members.
- Learn to accurately assess the condition of buildings and structures while identifying defects and recommending appropriate remedial actions.
- Learn to accurately describe defects and write remedial repairs along with using the proper F value scoring for assessing asset conditions and creating detailed inspection reports.
- As you gain more experience and become competent, you will complete possession work and produce high quality reports from inspections (inspections will be carried out under mentorship).
- Input survey data accurately and in a timely manner to meet contract KPIs.
- Collaborate with the Operations and Delivery Manager to ensure timely completion of inspections, reporting any issues or defects and any inspection work not completed.
- Report any immediate or significant defects to the OPHD.
- Deliver work bank on time, to the specification and within budget.
- Follow safe working practices to comply with key processes and safety responsibility statement.
Experience and skills required for this Entry Level Building Surveyor role are:
- Previous experience in surveys and inspections is beneficial but not essential.
- Currently working towards professional membership with RICS or CIOB.
- A good understanding of structural mechanics, construction materials and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.
- Familiarity with the software Citadel is an advantage.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability and availability to work at the weekend and during nighttime possessions.
- PTS, DRA Asbestos awareness, confined space awareness, working at height would be an advantage.
- Full UK Driving License.
Desirable knowledge, skills & experience for this Entry Level Building Surveyor role are:
- Knowledge of the railway industry and possession planning is an advantage.
- Rail safety critical competencies (COSS, ESM SWL1/2).
- Previous experience working in a railway environment is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
