Job Role: Estimator

Location: Sutton in Ashfield

Opportunity: Permanent

Salary: Up to £60,000 D.O.E (Car & Further benefits)

 

I currently have an opportunity for an ambitious estimator who has experience in Civils, Construction or largescale ground/earthworks. You will be joining a successful and fast-growing business where your achievements and commitment will be appreciated and rewarded.

This company posted impressive double digit multimillion pound growth last year with similar revenue increases over the coming years. They have diversified their projects and as such have a clear trajectory to success

You’ll join a tight-knit team with brand new offices, ongoing training and company events such as holidays, staff parties and inhouse incentives to create a vibrant work place.

 

Key responsibilities for this Estimator role:

  • Prepare Cost Estimates: Calculate the overall costs of a construction project, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
  • Analyse Project Plans: Review and analyse blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand the scope of work and requirements.
  • Assess Project Scope: Evaluate the project requirements to determine the amount of resources and time needed.
  • Gather Pricing Information: Source and obtain quotes from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Perform Quantity Takeoffs: Measure and calculate the quantities of materials required for the project.
  • Conduct Risk Analysis: Identify potential risks and uncertainties that could impact the project’s cost and schedule.
  • Prepare Bid Proposals: Create detailed and competitive bid proposals for clients, including cost breakdowns and timelines.
  • Collaborate with Project Teams: Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure accurate estimates and feasibility.
  • Monitor Market Trends: Stay updated on market conditions, material costs, and labor rates to provide the most current and accurate estimates.
  • Review and Adjust Estimate: Revise cost estimates if there are design changes, project scope adjustments, or unforeseen circumstances during the project’s lifecycle.

 

Key requirements for this Estimator role:

  • Relevant Civil or Construction experience quoting for jobs
  • Ambitious, hardworking and willing to dig in deep to support the team.
  • Strong technical knowledge within assessment and design including inspections, calculations and analysis of existing structures and new build design development.
  • Full driving licence and own transport.
  • Will consider Quantity Surveyors wanting to move into an Estimating role.
