Company Information
A leading provider of cost-effective Management Consultancy, Fire Safety, RM3, Accident & Investigation, Accident & Incident Training, Auditing, Site Safety Inspections and Health & Safety services is looking to take on a Fire Risk Assessor in in Derby.
The role involves conducting Fire Risk Assessments on various premises, producing reports, and delivering findings to clients.
As a fire risk assessor, you'll need to:
- work carefully to follow strict fire safety legislation and guidelines set by the government and fire and rescue services
- identify hazards and assess the potential risk of a fire breaking out in the building you're working in
- keep up to date with changes in the guidelines to fire safety by reading documents such as the Government Fire Safety Order
- work with others, such as fire services, buildings and facilities managers, surveyors, fire engineers and landlords to develop, amend and implement fire safety plans
- provide fire safety advice to clients, both verbally and in a detailed written report which can include a fire safety action plan
- take responsibility for your continuing professional development (CPD), to learn changes in regulation and developments in fire safety
- produce in-depth reports to show your findings from the assessment you've completed. These will mostly be written reports, but may require basic diagrammatic drawings and are likely to be recorded electronically
- deliver training on fire safety in some roles.
Essential Qualifications
- Ideally 3-5 years' experience as a Fire Risk Assessor, with demonstrable experience of undertaking fire risk assessment work.
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management or equivalent.
- And/or.
- Level 4 Diploma (NOS) in Fire Safety or equivalent.
- Membership of one or more of the following:
- The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE)
- The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM)
- The Institute of Fire Prevention Officers (IFPO).
Desirable Qualifications
- A degree level qualification in fire safety, building surveying or a health and safety related subjects.
- Essential Work Experience
- Experience of working to ISO9001/BAFE SP205 standards.
- PAS79:1 & PAS70:2 Fire Risk Assessment experience or equivalent
- Enforcing Officer (ideally fire, but not essential)
- H&S Officer (with fire experience)
- Building Regulations Assessor
- Fire Fighter (with fire safety training).
Other Role Requirements
A full driving license (ideally clean) with access to a private vehicle
