Position Objective:

The Planning Engineer (Bridges) is responsible for developing and managing project schedules, coordinating resources, and ensuring that all planning activities align with technical and regulatory requirements for bridge construction projects. The role involves coordinating with design, engineering, and construction teams to deliver projects on time and within budget, ensuring compliance with German engineering standards and safety regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning & Scheduling:

    • Develop detailed project schedules for bridge construction, incorporating design, procurement, and construction phases.
    • Utilize planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) to establish timelines and milestones.
    • Adjust schedules as necessary based on project changes or unforeseen delays.
  2. Coordination with Stakeholders:

    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
    • Communicate with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and clients to meet compliance and project requirements.
  3. Resource Allocation & Cost Control:

    • Assist in planning and allocating resources (labor, materials, and equipment) for efficient project execution.
    • Monitor costs to ensure projects remain within budget, identifying potential risks and solutions for cost overruns.
  4. Risk Management & Reporting:

    • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to avoid delays and budget overruns.
    • Prepare progress reports and forecasts to keep stakeholders informed of the project's status and potential issues.
  5. Compliance & Documentation:

    • Ensure that all planning activities comply with German engineering standards (DIN norms), building codes, and safety regulations.
    • Maintain detailed project documentation, including schedules, risk assessments, and resource allocations.
  6. Site Visits & Data Collection:

    • Conduct periodic site visits to assess project progress and collect data to update schedules and forecasts.
    • Collaborate with the construction team to resolve on-site issues and ensure schedule adherence.
  7. Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and planning techniques.
    • Recommend improvements to planning processes and tools for future projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Experience:
    Minimum of 5 years of experience in planning engineering for bridge or infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on scheduling and resource management.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.
    • Familiarity with German construction standards (DIN), regulations, and safety protocols for infrastructure projects.
    • Understanding of bridge construction methods and project workflows.
  • Language Proficiency:
    Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken, is required.

  • Certifications:
    Relevant certifications in project management or planning (e.g., PMP) are desirable but not mandatory.
