Fleet Manager
This company specialises in developing customised engineering solutions for the rail industry for over 20 years. Specialising in the maintenance processes, consultancy services focused on systems, procedures and continuous improvement of the maintenance development function of rolling stock operators.
They are currently looking for an experienced Permanent Fleet Manager to join them in the Hamilton area.
The key responsibilities for this Fleet Manager role are:
- Identify and implement safe, cost effective, containment and countermeasures to product safety issues and track them through accurate reporting of safety issues.
- Manage the technical maintenance engineering function within the business and work to develop and build the engineering team including depot facilities support.
- Lead on improvement projects to reduce train maintenance and operation costs, whilst ensuring that the specified fleet maintenance regime is certificated, adhered to, and complies with all relevant legislation, and associated limitations are effectively managed through controls such as concessions.
- Support day-to-day depot operations and maintenance team in resolving arising fleet issues. This could include the requirement or undertake out of hours on-call.
- Support the depot to resolve technical and operational issues and arbitrate on fitness to run decisions for vehicles.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records in accordance with the requirements of company and industry standards.
Experience required for this Fleet Manager role are:
- Experience in fleet maintenance or asset management environment.
- Problem-solving abilities and practical experience of root cause analysis techniques.
- Experience in delivering rail vehicle engineering change, including risk assessments and knowledge of the approvals process.
- Experience in organisation and project planning, management skills, governance, and execution.
- Demonstrable use of engineering knowledge, standard project management techniques and awareness of rail and HS&E standards.
Desirable knowledge, skills & experience for this Fleet Manager role are:
- Strong engineering knowledge of traction and rolling stock systems, and traction and rolling stock maintenance policies and practices.
- Knowledge of rail industry legislation and standards.
- Computer literate (MS Windows + Office, Microsoft Project).
- Understanding of key rail engineering processes and standards.
