Engineer - Rolling Stock
An opportunity for an Engineer to join a Rail Consultancy team within a global leader in risk management and safety consultancy, with decades of experience delivering high-quality services to the rail industry.
This exciting opportunity offers the chance to work on a variety of rail projects, including rolling stock consultancy, maintenance and operations, rail safety management, strategic advisory, compatibility assessments, auditing, and technical assessments. Additionally, you will support investigations into technical work, produce detailed reports, provide technical and assurance support, and assist with fleet overhaul management.

The key responsibilities for this Engineer role are:
- Deliver expert rolling stock engineering and safety consultancy services to clients both in the UK and internationally.
- Support successful project delivery in your area of expertise by adhering to budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
- Develop your skills and experience to take on project leadership responsibilities.
- Participate in business development activities, including proposal writing, client relationship management, and securing new business.
- Collaborate with other consultancy and assessment teams within the business on projects that relate to rolling stock, on-track plant, signalling and infrastructure.
- Investigate and analyse technical work and provide support for problem resolution, including technical assessments and investigations into faults or failures.
- Produce clear, detailed reports outlining findings, recommendations, and solutions.
- Provide technical and assurance support to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Represent the business at industry events, including marketing events and recruitment fairs.
- Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment on projects.
- Collaborate with the global rail teams to bid for and deliver international projects.
- Assist in managing fleet overhaul projects, providing technical guidance and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
- Continuously enhance your knowledge of the railway industry and stay current with new technologies, industry developments, and best practices.
Experience and skills required for this Engineer role are:
- At least 2-3 years' experience in rail engineering, with a focus on rolling stock preferably.
- Experience with technical investigations such as identifying issues, analysing data and providing solutions or recommendations.
- Previous knowledge in technical repots, detailed findings, analysis and recommendations for clients or stakeholders.
- Some experience in fleet overhaul management, including working on the maintenance, repairs, or upgrades of rolling stock.
- Meng or BEng in Engineering, or an equivalent qualification within a relevant discipline
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software's.
Desirable knowledge, skills & experience for this Engineer role are:
- Incorporated (or Chartered) Engineering status or working towards this or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience with CAD and/or Finite Element Analysis software.
- Familiarity with safety management processes such as CSM-REA or EN5012x.
- Knowledge of standards and regulations, including Railway Group Standards, ENs, TSIs, and NTSNs.
- Experience in safety and quality management system audits.
- Technical expertise in mechanical or electrical rolling stock systems
