Flood Risk / Drainage Engineer

Location: Longbridge, Birmingham

Salary: £35,000 - £46,000 negotiable dependant on level of experience plus package including:

Summary 

My client, a specialist UK based Engineering Consultancy which specialises in Drainage, Civil and Flood Risk Engineering is looking to recruit an experienced Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer, working with a team of specialist consultants in their growing Bristol Water Resources team, to deliver Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies for private and public sector clients, within one of the UK's leading independent consultancies.

For the right individual, this is an excellent opportunity to help develop a strategically important sector of the business. The business is currently engaged in a number of projects ranging from small scale development up to larger scale projects ranging between 150 to 10,000 residential units and supporting infrastructure.

Ideal candidate specification

- A degree in Civil Engineering, or a relevant higher education qualification) and/or extensive experience in a similar position.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in preparing and delivering Flood Risk Assessments and detailed Drainage Strategies
- A good understanding of drainage design knowledge and experience of Sewers for Adoption 7th Edition, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Code of Adoption Agreement and The SuDS Manual (CIRIA C753)
- A strong understanding of national planning policy and relevant legislation with regards to flood risk and drainage
- An understanding of hydraulic modelling software and techniques ie Microdrainage, Causeway Flow, HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller, and/or TUFLOW.
- Data manipulation and processing skills in ArcGIS/QGIS and AutoCAD.
- Experience liaising with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities, and other statutory bodies.
- Good report writing skills.
- Either have or be approaching CEng (MICE, or CIWEM) status (desirable)
