Head of Health, Safety & Environment

Location: Warrington

Salary: Negotiable Circa £85,000 - £95,000 dependant on level of experience plus benefits package, and career development opportunities.

Summary

A leading infrastructure, construction, and property services company with a specialism in gas and energy infrastructure are seeking an experienced Head of SHE to lead and inspire their SHE team, embedding a strong safety culture across our operations and ensuring compliance with the highest industry standards.

I am seeking a strategic SHE leader with a passion for driving safety, health, and environmental excellence who wants to play a key role in delivering critical national infrastructure projects for UK gas asset owners and water infrastructure covering all aspects of pipeline networks including investigation, design, planning infrastructure maintenance, mains rehabilitation, new connections, metering and repairs.

The Role

As Head of SHE, you will:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SHE Advisors, driving best practices across all projects.
- Provide expert guidance on Health, Safety & Environmental matters, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
- Support operational teams with SHE strategies from tendering through to project completion.
- Conduct site visits across the UK, offering hands-on support and ensuring SHE standards are upheld.
- Drive sustainability initiatives to support our net-zero targets.
- Lead investigations into incidents, ensuring lessons are learned and shared.
- Work closely with key stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and industry leaders to promote SHE excellence.

Qualifications


- Diploma (or equivalent) in Health & Safety OR extensive industry experience in Gas, Water, or another highly regulated sector (e.g., Rail, Power).
- CMIOSH is essential
- Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and SHE requirements for gas infrastructure projects.
- Experience engaging with regulatory bodies (HSE, Environmental Agency, SEPA).
- A collaborative leader who can influence, challenge, and drive continuous improvement.
- A full UK driving license - travel is an essential part of the role.
