Urgent role for a Health and Safety Advisor to work on the Cross Tay Link Road (CTLR) along side National Highways working on the major structural and highways framework.

The CTLR is the biggest infrastructure project ever undertaken by Perth & Kinross Council. It will involve the construction of a new 3-span bridge over the River Tay and a six kilometre stretch of new carriageway linking the A9 and the A93 to Blairgowrie and the A94, just north of Scone. It also includes the construction of two kilometres of realigned dual carriageway on the A9 just north of the Inveralmond Roundabout.

Your Mission
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for the following:
• Supervise, support and guide all safety advisors.
• Ensure that safety systems and plans meet the relevant safety standards.
• Ensure that safety issues are discussed at project review meetings.
• Advise and guide all relevant personnel in setting up and maintaining safety systems.
• Keep clear records to comply with company internal audit standards.
• Assist managers with safety submissions, risk assessments and vendor evaluations.
• Communicate and promote the health and safety management ethos and concepts.
• Deliver training.
• Ensure that project is working to the relevant statutory health and safety documentation.
• Prepare of monthly report and submit in agreed format.
• Carry out site safety inspections.
• Identify areas for improvement and issues, submitting to the Project team.
• Monitor the adequacy of accident inspection and reporting.
• Carry out safety audits
• Liaise directly with the project manager.

Who are we looking for as the Health and Safety Advisor?
Your qualifications, skills and experience should include:
• Successful experience as a Project Health and Safety Advisor and as supervisor or an engineer within a construction environment, qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) or related discipline and appropriate proven knowledge and experience (minimum of 3 years).
• Able to communicate at all levels within the project organisation.
• Able to deliver any health and safety training as instructed by the head of health and safety.
• Able to act as a team leader.
• Capable of leading accident investigations.
• Business acumen with full understanding of the commercial impact of decisions.
• Knowledge and experience of operational activities.
