Our client is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor with substantial experience in civil engineering, preferably within the highways sector.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop precise and comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring all elements are accounted for.
  • Track and manage project budgets, providing timely financial updates to stakeholders.
  • Perform cost analysis and value engineering to achieve cost efficiencies while maintaining quality standards.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to evaluate the financial practicality of project designs.
  • Examine contracts and agreements to ensure they align with financial regulations and industry practices.
  • Support the creation of tender documentation and assess contractor bids effectively.
  • Keep detailed and accurate financial records for all aspects of project expenditure.
  • Advise on procurement strategies and aid in the selection of subcontractors and suppliers.

Qualifications & Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of NEC Option A and JCT forms of contracts.
  • Hands-on experience in Quantity Surveying, particularly in civil engineering and highways projects.
  • Proficiency in negotiating and finalizing cost engineering variations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors efficiently.
  • Expertise in cost control, management, and forecasting for large-scale projects.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities, with a knack for fostering strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
  • A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, complemented by professional certifications (e.g., MRICS or equivalent).
