Senior Preconstruction Manager

Job Description

The Estimating/Preconstruction Department handles creating budgets and bids for projects, as well as managing ongoing preconstruction for awarded projects in development. They manage bidder lists, issue invitations, solicit and review bids, and estimate costs for labor and materials. This team member will work on developing creative solutions to construction challenges and winning profitable work.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain professionalism and ethics when representing the company
- Analyze project documents to prepare estimates for time, cost, and labor
- Lead or assist in estimating multi-discipline projects, ensuring accuracy
- Train and supervise other estimators in your area of expertise
- Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors/vendors
- Lead meetings to define scopes and strategies with subcontractors
- Manage risks and contracts during bids
- Assist in meeting minority participation goals
- Review estimates for accuracy before final submission
- Track cost comparisons between estimates and actuals
- Seek continuous improvement in estimating methods
- Visit sites to observe unique conditions

Basic Qualifications:
- 8-10+ years of estimating and cost control experience
- Degree in engineering, construction management, or related field, or relevant work experience
- Ability to lead or be part of multiple project teams
- Proficient in On Screen Take-off, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
- Knowledge of conceptual and detailed estimating, with self-perform experience
- Familiarity with local subcontractors is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:
- Field experience

MUST HAVE:
- Electrical estimating experience
