Job Description:
Our client, a well-established General Contractor, is looking for a dedicated Site Superintendent with new build experience to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of a community center project in Markham. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring that the project progresses according to plan.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
- Oversee the scheduling of trades, deliveries, and inspections.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress and report regularly to senior management on timelines, budgets, and any potential issues.
- Resolve any on-site conflicts or issues in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent, preferably with new build projects (community centers, institutional buildings, etc.).
- Strong understanding of construction processes, project scheduling, and budgeting.
- Proven experience managing large construction teams and coordinating multiple trades.
- In-depth knowledge of Ontario building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Certification in Construction Safety (e.g., WSIB, First Aid, and WHMIS) is an asset.
