About the Role:
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Fibre Installation and Commissioning Engineer to join a well-established Mobile/Fibre Network Operator working on the BDUK Gigabit Project.
The company are an established Mobile/Fibre Network Operator based in the UK. Your role as Fibre Installation & Commissioning Engineer will be focused on delivering high-speed broadband in rural areas. The successful candidate will play a key role in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fibre networks, including the replacement and exchange of cabinets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and commission fibre optic equipment and networks in line with project specifications.
- Exchange and upgrade network cabinets as part of the BDUK Gigabit rollout.
- Ensure network installations meet quality and safety standards.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently during commissioning.
- Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and other stakeholders to meet deadlines.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and verification of network performance.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines, particularly in rural and remote locations.
- Ensure documentation and reporting of project progress, including test results and configurations.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in fibre installation and commissioning in telecom or similar industries.
- Practical experience with Cisca, Sienna, and Antran systems is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of Nokia systems and solutions is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with cabinet exchange and network upgrades.
- Valid and in-date Streetworks tickets are mandatory.
- Ability to work in rural and challenging environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
Qualifications:
- Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in fibre optic networks or telecommunications.
- Full UK driving licence (due to rural site work).
- Relevant streetworks & technical tickets.
