We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Manager to join a board representing local transport within the region. Who are pivotal in delivering a wide range of improvement programmes to modernise tram systems and improve the service for their passengers.
Substantial investment has been put into all aspects of the system over the next few years, including refurbishment of existing substations, installation of new substations and overhead line replacement.
The purpose of this role is to manage the condition and performance the electrical and mechanical assets - including power, overhead lines, low voltage electrical assets - are safe and compliant with all standards and legislations.
Key responsibilities for this Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Manager:
- Identify and maintain technical standards for electrical and mechanical assets, including functionality, performance, maintainability and reliability.
- Support the operator in developing annual maintenance plans and budget requirements - review, challenge and approve these.
- Develop and delivery long term strategic asset management plans for all electrical and mechanical assets, including lifecycle renewals and life extension works, to ensure the lifespan and availability of the assets are optimised.
- Review and Analyse asset information (for example performance data) to identify trends and inform appropriate asset management practices.
- Review proposals for amendments to asset maintenance regimes when requested.
- Provide reports o asset condition, operator performance and supplier performance where required.
Key requirements for this Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Manager:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
- Ideally professionally qualified - Chartered - Desirable
- Proven experience working in an engineering or asset management role within heavy or light rail.
- Established delivery record in maintenance, life extension works, overhauls and renewal of electrical and/or mechanical engineering assets.
- Ability to lead and manage others with a range of technical and professional skill sets - Desirable.
- Knowledge of the principles of ISO55000 - Desirable
- Experience of working on a multi-disciplinary renewal programme - Desirable
- Ability to adopt an effective approach to problem-solving, adapting to changes in circumstances or information.
