High Level Technician

Job Description

I have an exciting opportunity for a High Level Technician to join a successful, dynamic Engineering team with one of the UK's leading Train Operating Companies.

The purpose of this role is to perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities, as well as modification or overhaul works on passenger trains and components. You will troubleshoot systems, perform fault analysis, repair of electronics, electrical and mechanical equipment of passenger trains.


Key responsibilities for this High Level Technician role:

- Fault find and test train systems and implement preventative and corrective maintenance using testing equipment to prove or disprove system failure.
- Develop defect rectification plans to assist other maintenance staff, producing solutions that provide short term mitigation and long term resolution.
- Analyse asset management data to predict risks and develop required interventions plus identifying trends and development improvement programmes.
- Obsolescence avoidance and mitigation.
- To act as a mentor to other staff, to develop their fault finding and analytical skills.
- Make improvements to depot processes, fleet processes and Vehicle Maintenance Instructions.

Experience required for this High Level Technician role:

- Extensive knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
- Recognised Mechanical/Electrical Engineering apprenticeship
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to coach other staff.
- Strong organisational skills
- Proven electrical fault finding - ability to identify, diagnose and repair using schematic drawings and supporting materials.
- ONC or above in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/PC/Software qualification.
- Experience in the rail sector - desirable
