Geotechnical engineer

Job Description

We are currently looking for a qualified and motivated geotechnical engineer to strengthen our dynamic team.

Locations: Essen, Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich & remote


Responsibilities:

  • Field investigation and data collection
  • Conduct field surveys to assess soil and rock conditions.
  • Collecting samples and conducting laboratory tests to analyze soil and rock properties.
  • Use geotechnical software and tools to interpret data and prepare reports.


Geotechnical analysis and design:

  • Carrying out geotechnical calculations and analyzes to assess the stability, settlement and load-bearing capacity of foundations.
  • Design of foundation and structural systems, retaining structures and slope stabilization measures.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate geotechnical aspects into the overall project design.


Risk assessment and risk mitigation:

  • Identify geotechnical hazards and risks associated with projects.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and recommend appropriate engineering solutions.
  • Conducting geotechnical investigations for infrastructure resilience and disaster preparedness.


Project management and customer interaction:

  • Manage geotechnical aspects of projects, including budgeting and scheduling.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders and regulators.
  • Providing technical expertise and support throughout the project cycle.


Compliance and quality control:

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant norms, standards and regulations.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of geotechnical reports and designs.
  • Participate in peer reviews and technical discussions to improve project results.


Qualifications:

  • Fluent knowledge of spoken and written German
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or a related field.
  • Professional experience as a geotechnical engineer, preferably in the consulting industry.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical analysis software (e.g. PLAXIS, FLAC, GeoStudio) and CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in German and English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
