Senior / Principal Engineer (Bridges)

Location: St Helens & Manchester

Salary and Benefits: £48,000 - £68,000 negotiable dependant on experience plus competitive package

Summary

An established Engineering & Professional Services business with a passion for innovation and excellence in the rail industry have recently won a number of major CP7 design projects and are looking to continue the growth and development in their internal Civil & Structural Engineering division with the appointment of a Senior or a Principal Engineer with experience in bridge design, to meet the demands of our civil and structural workbank, with a focus on the bridge design and assessment portfolio.


Job Description:

You will play a critical role in delivering exciting and varied civil engineering projects alongside a team of likeminded and highly skilled Civil & Structural Engineers. You will champion excellence within the discipline, provide guidance and support to junior engineers and have unparalleled opportunities for career development in a fast growing consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare outline and detailed design for a wide array of civil engineering projects with a focus on bridge design and assessment works
- Follow check and approve procedures throughout project delivery
- Undertake the duties of designer as highlighted in CDM/CSM legislation
- Engage with clients and support successful project delivery
- Support the development and growth of the bridge engineering team
- Contribute to company goals and business improvement
- Continue your own professional development
- Support junior staff development

Required Experience:

- CEng or IEng qualified with a professional body i.e. ICE, IStructE or on route
- Demonstratable experience in a Civil Engineering role, ideally acting as CRE, CRE under mentorship
- Experience of civil engineering design, in particular bridge design and assessment in the railway industry, including an understanding of Network Rail standards
- A Civil Engineering degree
- Knowledge of civil design and construction principles and standards
- Eurocode experience
- Experience in delivering to safety standards and CDM/CSM requirements
- Experience of commercial awareness including programming and delivery to budgets/timescales
- Proficient in the use of computer analysis programs e.g. TEDDS and Supersuite.
- Knowledge of producing drawings by using 2D/3D Microstation
